Bamboo-tube Sticky Rice, known as Com Lam, is a distinctive dish deeply rooted in the culture of Highland communities. Carrying staple food items like rice soup and drinking water was challenging, prompting them to ingeniously utilize bamboo tubes found abundantly in the forests for cooking rice and water.
Venturing into the forest required minimal provisions, typically including dried fish and a small quantity of rice, sustaining their energy for strenuous tasks. Consequently, the humble Com Lam rice dish evolved into a unique culinary tradition, cherished by both locals and visitors. Its distinct flavor, differing from conventionally cooked rice, and the rustic preparation method, reflecting the untamed essence of nature, make Com Lam a special culinary attraction for tourists.
